Text 2 Aug 8/2: Who’s Awesome?

If the season was over today, the Dodgers and Phillies would win their respective divisions, while the Cubs and Cardinals would be in a virtual tie for the NL Central and the Giants and Rockies would be in a tie for the NL Wild Card.  The Phillies have the best offense and the Giants have the best pitching.

Top 20 in HR, RBI and AVG: Albert Pujols (HR, RBI, OBP, SLG, OPS), Raul Ibanez, Prince Fielder (RBI), Chase Utley, Ryan Braun, Justin Upton and Carlos Lee.  Hanley Ramirez leads in AVG.

Top 20 in W, ERA and K: Matt Cain (W), Tim Lincecum (K), Dan Haren, Wandy Rodriguez, Adam Wainwright (W), Josh Johnson, Johan Santana (W), Yovani Gallardo and Ted Lilly.  Chris Carpenter leads in ERA.  Jason Marquis is tied for Wins.  

If the season was over in the American League, the Angels, Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers would be in.  The Angels have the best offense and the Mariners have the best pitching.

Top 20 in HR, RBI and AVG: Justin Morneau (HR, RBI) and Kevin Youkilis (OBP).  Ichiro Suzuki leads in AVG.  Joe Mauer is tied for OBP and leads SLG and OPS.  

Top 20 in W, K and ERA: Zack Greinke (ERA), Roy Halladay, Felix Hernandez, Justin Verlander (K), Josh Beckett (W), Jered Weaver, CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett.
